NEW LADIES BOUTIQUE OFFERS RETAIL "THERAPY"

Redefining the term “retail therapy,” Therapy, the newest women’s retail clothing store in Old Town Scottsdale is bringing the hottest trends from the pages of the fashion magazines to the streets of Scottsdale. Co-owners Katy Baker and Ron Moore opened the doors to Therapy on November 10, 2007 bringing new designer fashions to Scottsdale’s fashion scene.
Formerly a hair salon, the space has blossomed with its recent redevelopment. Redesigned into a one of a kind, state of the art boutique with white walls, white furnishings and white sconces the clothing is able to speak for itself. The dresses, tops, pants, denim, belts, jewelry, and accessories stand out against the austere background. Though, this is not to say that the store is anything less than relaxed elegance.
With water cascading down mirrors on the north side of shop, the gentle sound of running water puts shoppers at ease while they take a look around.

Therapy, 4228 N. Craftsman Court #2, Scottsdale. (480) 947-0901. Hours are 11- 7 Monday- Saturday, 12- 5 on Sunday.

"RUN THE ELITE OUT OF TOWN."-NIKE

Vintage Cortez $90

Vintage Elite $80

The current year may be yet another in an increasingly technologically savvy millennium, but the folks at Nike see it as a year for retro recall. Bright colors, oversized Swooshes, and skinny, waffle soles are the hallmarks of the iconic products that put Nike on the map, and these are faithfully recaptured in Nike's Vintage Collection, available at a few select retailers around the world.
Call it art in fashion as a cultural statement: The new versions of the vintage products are made to original specifications and aged to look like thirty years actually have progressed, complete with rather evident imperfections, such as faded suede and even yellowed midsoles.

The clothing line flux Nouveau, now known as just Fluxus, takes its name from one of the most radical and experimental art movements of the 60's and literally means "to flow". Fluxus included a strong current of anti-commercialism. An early adapter of this movement was Yoko Ono,who explored media ranging from performance art to poetry to experimental music to film. Fluxus encouraged a do it yourself aesthetic and valued simplicity over complexity. Fluxus celebrates the relationship between everyday life and art, blending and connecting different artistic media. Fluxus is uncomplicated yet unique, and an extension of the individual. Wearing Fluxus is an art!

INTRODUCING ENDOVANERA! A NEW BEGINNING

Even before you see the clothes, Los Angeles menswear label Endovanera (sounds like, but not limited to, "end of an era") has the makings of an all-American classic. Founded in 2005 by David Michael Hershberger and Mitch Moseley, the fledgling label can be traced back to an old Costa Mesa boathouse-turned-studio where Hershberger spent his time hand-sewing custom jeans and where the two designers had their first serendipitous meeting. "The modern design world has really begun to rely on computers for their design process," Mosely says. "To me, it is kind of like the difference between a DJ spinning on vinyl and spinning on a laptop. The laptop gets the point across but vinyl is just so much more real—it has more personality."

Stripe low crew $60
Solid Henley $68

Pour La Victoire is the shoe for the 20th century Marie Antoinette, a shopaholic's dream come true-a fashionable, well-made shoe at a great price. $165

"IT'S ALL FOR NOTHING IF YOU DONT HAVE FREEDOM!" Willam Wallace

The fashion world is having another fling with Scottish tartan, presently seen as sneakers or a vintage tam-o-shanter. The couple above, seen in Paris last month, were slipcovered in tartan, including their luggage. The man at right is wearing a trompe l'oeil kilt that was actually a bath towel bought at a Woolworth's in Edinburgh. He was at a Scottish dance at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York last week, where many of the guests, bottom row, were wearing tartan clothes. The same week, there was a party for the book Tartan: Romancing the Plaid at Saks Fifth Avenue with the authors, left, Doria de La Chapelle, seated, and Jeffrey Banks.
