Palladium was founded in 1920 to make tires for the fledgling aviation industry. Tires were made by layering canvas bands underneath vulcanized rubber. Palladium's expertise was so advanced that soon the majority of Europe's aircraft were using Palladium Tires.

Palladium decided to open a plant in Pont De Cheruy, France, to start producing footwear that was as hard wearing as their tires. In 1947 the legendary Pampa boot was born, and the functionality, comfort and durability were so outstanding that the French Foreign Legion adopted it for their use. Eighty percent of the shop is constructed from refuse and throw away materials, while the entire design is customized and hand crafted. They are processed at a low environmental impact dye facility. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and fertilizers that are damaging to our environment. I have read that it takes as much as 2 lbs. of pesticide to produce 1 tee shirt. Daisy Linhares is a Brazilian designer based in Venice, CA. She got her start designing clothes while still living in Brazil. In 2002 she created “Mothballs,” a line of deconstructed cashmere tops made from vintage sweaters. Recently, in 2006, she launched a new line designed for everyday wear. The collection consists of comfortable rayon/modal dresses and tops. She wanted to come up with a line that would be stylish and yet understated. Looking at the fast pace life style in which we live in today, she wanted to simplify the “debate” of throwing an outfit together, making the garments easy to wear. Then, “breadandbutter,” was born.

Co-owners Katy Baker and Ron Moore opened the doors to Therapy on November 10, 2007 bringing new designer fashions to Scottsdale’s fashion scene.

Formerly a hair salon, the space has blossomed with its recent redevelopment. The couple above, seen in Paris last month, were slipcovered in tartan, including their luggage. The man at right is wearing a trompe l'oeil kilt that was actually a bath towel bought at a Woolworth's in Edinburgh. He was at a Scottish dance at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York last week, where many of the guests, bottom row, were wearing tartan clothes. Lux Coffee Bar on Central Ave. will display the exhibit "Decks" until the end of November

Stop by Lux from now until the end of November for a cup of their hand crafted, 100% organic espresso blend coffee and a superior hand made scone or fresh quiche of the day while peeping the art show "Deck". The second annual exhibit is the creation of Mike Goodwin and Kenneth Richardson, a k a the Molten Brothers. The 07 version of "Decks" features some 200 local and national artists showcasing a variety of different mediums on skateboard decks (without wheels) ready to adorn the walls of any progressive pad.

Lux is known for coffee, community and art. Each month the Central Phoenix hipster hotspot features a new exhibit within its gallery like space. Lux features coffee roasted in house daily along with an assortment of home made baked goods (so good), free Wi-Fi and a fresh lineup of local DJs on Friday morning...and of course art.

Local artist Matt Mays recent paintings in plastic " An Infinite Series of Accidental Events are now on view and available at Covet. Matt Mays was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up on a tobacco farm in Appomattox, Va. He earned a BFA in Illinois and has studied at The Art Students League in NYC. Matt completed a ten year apprenticeship with painter Hans Hoffman. Matt's work quickly brings to mind such luminairies of Abstract Expressionism as Willem De Kooning and Jackson Pollack. His work is owned by all types of folks, including legend Willie Nelson, The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, and Google. He lives in Scottsdale, Arizona.
